During the 1960's and 1970's some cannabis breeders took to experimenting with Colchicine.  Colchicine, a powerful mutagen for both man and beast, stops cell duplication, while the cellcore duplication continues the same.  The end result is a doubling or more of the chromosome set.  This treatment can be beneficial to cannabis because it enforces many properties such as higher production of thc and resistance to disease.  What also resulted, when gender chromosomes doubled, is that male or female chromosomes appear manifold, called Hermaphrodites.  What's the plant to become?  It becomes all at once.  The result is called feminized or effeminate seed.

Marijuana Lights

Marijuana lighting systems allow you to extend the growing season by providing your plants with an indoor equivalent to sunlight. This is a great advantage for those of you who appreciate having a year-round supply of fresh flowers, veggies and herbs. Artificial lighting is also a great way to jump-start spring by starting your seedlings months ahead of the last frost. There are three main types of horticultural lighting systems useful for marijuana.

Unmarked vials, confused cultivators, self-appointed regulators - the messy side of marijuana horticulture

Pesticides not meant for use on consumable crops are available in “grow” shops throughout the Bay Area – a bustling market in which toxic substances are sold over the counter in unmarked vials.

A Bay Citizen reporter was able to purchase substances identified by vendors as the pesticides Avid and Floramite at hydroponic gardening centers in San Francisco and Berkeley. The reporter was offered a quart container of Avid at another Berkeley store for $400.

Three other grow shops said they did not carry the pesticides; two noted it would be illegal to do so.

CANNABIS CULTURE - A long time ago in a growroom far, far away there worked a humble farmer.

I grew my fruits and sold them to locals and everything was good. I added C02 and my harvest went through the roof. I was pulling down 60-70 zips every 60 days using a three-room set up.

Our correspondents from around the world weigh in on this year’s bumper crop of buds. Take a tour of the best pot on the planet with our esteemed team of cannabis researchers, who have scoured the globe in search of great ganja.

NEPAL
These days, the horticulture of cannabis is so completely under the control of humans that the plant tends to lead an unnatural life cycle and rarely has the chance to grow freely in the wild. It is typically grown indoors, where the males are killed and the females are cut down in their prime – just before having the chance to reproduce. In the Western world, where cannabis is outlawed and its value makes the plant highly coveted, the chance to grow it in the wild is next to impossible.

First time growers should start with a soil-based grow rather than hydroponics. You need to get a feel for the growth and life cycle of cannabis in order to have confidence that things are going well. Soil is more forgiving than rockwool or other hydroponics media. Micro nutrient balances, which are critical to proper growth and vigor, exist in soil naturally. Soil is inexpensive and not suspicious to neighbors who may wonder what all the equipment is for otherwise. Make sure that the soil is not too dense. Use perlite to lighten and loosen the soil. This provides necessary space in the medium for air. Air is an important factor in cultivating any type of plant.
